I never realized until I started taking care of patients how different people can really be. In our daily lives we tend to interact with people who are similar to us: who live in the same neighborhood, who have similar experiences and resources, who see the same skies overhead and setting suns in the distance. When I'm asked to take care of people from outside my realm of experience, it forces an entrance into a new space. From this place of unfamiliarity I'm trying to learn the nuances of how people live and want to live.
