I grew up reading books, so much so that I felt like I was missing out on real life. This is a major part of what brought me to medicine. Now that I'm there, I return to books. Books allow me to do much of what I get to practice in medicine--see other lives and places--in the quiet and freedom of my own space. There is no pressure or accountability in reading. It's pure absorption, and before I can reflect any mindsets or practices outward, I need to absorb.
